Nothing new, the players don't tank, it's the ownership by not getting the best players available.
The problem is you can't have a 200 million payroll unless you have a fan base to support it like in NY, LA, Boston etc.
Florida is not a baseball place, the Ray's are a solid contender with the worst stadium ever, should make the playoffs, can't draw flies.
Marlins even worse, no chance to win, dump dead money like Stanton and rebuild, only thing you can do. They did win a World Series circa 2003.
Players don't tank, especially young players on the way up, they need every hit and good pitching performance just to stay in the show
An old geezer like an Ellsbury, Encarnacion type may not give a shit and is just going through the motions, but not young kids they care, it's their future after all.
There has to be a better place than Florida for these two teams, it just ain't a baseball town
